Baba

Baba is a social design I created in 2022 for my "Creative Profiling" exam at Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam.
They were made as a hypothetical solution for when young children are overwhelmed and refuse to talk to a teacher. The puppet would serve as a friendly "middle person" between the child and the adult and would bridge the gap until the child is ready to talk again.

In my design I took several aspects into account. For example, I had made a design for a puppet where the adult's hands act as the hands of the puppet, but that could be too human for the child to be comfortable in a moment of distress. I also gave the puppet big, replaceable, feather ears. Touch and textures are important in moments of discomfort, but if it were to break it should be able to be fixed by anyone.
